Whatever you look for in a holiday, you’ll be able to find it in the Black Isle and surrounding areas.

Looking for natural beauty? The area is home to all sorts of wildlife – not to mention the famous dolphins in the Moray Firth.

Looking for action? If you’re into walking or mountain-biking, there’s plenty of paths and trails within easy reach. Time it right, and you could take a run down the slopes at Aviemore – around 40 miles away. If you’re into riding – whether horses or quad-bikes – the Broomhill Riding Centre is close by. For the adventurous hill-climber, there’s Ben Wyvis, with spectacular views across the north of Scotland. And for the less adventurous climbers, there’s the gondola up Aonach Mor.

If you’re a history buff, take a walk down the pictish trail and travel back in time to 600AD. See the ruins at Redcastle, which dates back to the twelfth century. Take a look at Fort George, built to pacify the Highlands after the 1745 Jacobite rising. Or, visit Cromarty House, the 18th century home built on the site of the old castle of the earls of Ross.

If it’s your first time in Scotland (and even if it isn’t), you can listen to a traditional pipe band at Beauly, visit a Highland Games or even take a trip to Loch Ness to see Nessie. Play a round at the Fortrose & Rosemarkie Golf Course (part of the James Braid Golf Trail), then have a round in the Plough Inn – the historic Rosemarkie pub. And, for foodies, there are plenty of restaurants around the area, serving the amazing local produce.
